Driving Equal Opportunity Through Exceptional Digital Experiences
As a global leader in the staffing industry, Randstad has been helping businesses and individuals with recruitment needs since 1960. Every day, over 600,000 people work through Randstad. Committed to fostering positive relationships, Randstad organizes various initiatives that create equal opportunities for all. Part of that commitment is delivering unparalleled user experience in Randstad’s customer-facing applications.
A Strategic Migration: From No-Code to Native Technology
Randstad initially developed a mobile application using a no-code platform to simplify contract management for its vast user base. This quick-to-market solution allowed the company to validate the concept, and as the app gained traction, it became clear that a more robust, scalable infrastructure was needed.
Our role was to partner with Randstad on this strategic migration, transforming the app from a no-code solution into a native environment for iOS and Android. This involved migrating the existing user base from over 20 countries from the no-code app to the new native app. Each market had unique requirements for backend functionality.
Collaborative Innovation to Enhance User Experiences
Migrating an app used daily by thousands to native technologies is a study in careful planning and risk management. Randstad operates internationally, and a disruption could impact stakeholders globally. To address these needs, we designed a comprehensive migration plan, focusing on business continuity and minimal disruption.
Randstad created a roadmap, while our team contributed a development structure to match, along with proxy product ownership and design. This collaboration included scaling our team up or down based on project needs, handling both frontend and backend development, and addressing market-specific backend configurations to meet local requirements, such as legal adaptations for each operational country.
As the project progressed, Randstad trusted us to take an active role in shaping the application’s architecture, including a dual-functionality design. The app currently supports contract workers directly employed by Randstad who rely on the app as a primary tool for work management. In the future, non-Randstad job seekers will be able to use the app to secure work opportunities more efficiently.

“We had a tight timeline and high expectations — Nomtek delivered. The app became a key part of our sales pitch and helped us open important conversations with partners and investors. What impressed me most was how quickly they understood our goals and adapted the design to match exactly what we needed for live demos.”

Project planning and coordination
Our project owner led coordination efforts, creating a roadmap together with Randstad and maintaining consistent communication with their team to align on project milestones.
Feature flag management
We implemented feature flags to customize app functionalities for different regions, allowing for a tailored experience based on user location and local regulations.
Frontend development for iOS and Android
A team of three iOS and three Android developers rewrote the app’s interface, leveraging platform-specific capabilities to optimize user experience.
Backend development and integration
We accommodated market-specific requirements on the backend, ensuring the app met legal and operational needs across multiple countries.
User experience design
Our product designer collaborated with Randstad to refine the app’s UI/UX, making it more intuitive for both contract workers and external job seekers.
Quality assurance and testing
Five QA engineers, including two QA automation engineers, rigorously tested each release for quality and reliability, minimizing potential disruptions for Randstad’s extensive user base.
Building a Flexible Delivery Model to Support Randstad’s Growth
Maintaining Agility and Responsiveness
Our project manager, Tomek Odrzywołek, developed a custom tool to improve release predictability, syncing data from JIRA and project documents to provide delivery estimates accurate to the day. This tool, paired with an adaptable team structure, enabled us to navigate changing project demands without exceeding budgetary limits.
Throughout the development, we prioritized flexibility, closely monitoring product analytics and QA feedback to make timely, data-driven decisions. By optimizing team composition at each project phase, we alleviated recruitment pressures on Randstad, ensuring an efficient, high-quality delivery model.
Randstad valued this approach, as it reflects our commitment to quality over quantity. Rather than simply staffing developers, we assembled teams with the skills and adaptability necessary to meet specific project challenges for an efficient and timely delivery.
